National Origin Discrimination
Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits discrimination based on one’s national origin. In the workplace it does not matter where someone’s family is from. You or your family can be born in Louisville, London (England) or Lima (Peru), and your employer cannot discriminate against you on the basis of your national origin. Even after September 11, 2001, misguided or misdirected discrimination is not allowed and those of Middle Eastern descent are protected under the law. If you have been discriminated based on your national origin, you should speak to a national origin discrimination lawyer at the Law Offices of Andrew S. Alitowski.
Also, an employer cannot discriminate against an employee for his or affiliation with a particular religious or ethnic group. Discrimination based on one’s physical, cultural or linguistic characteristics is illegal as well. Whether you wear a head scarf or yamaka or some other religious item, an employer cannot discriminate against you for doing so.
If at your workplace you feel you are being discriminated against based on our national origin, please call the Law Offices of Andrew S. Alitowski at 888-ASK-ANDREW (275-2637). We are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to answer any questions you may have.
